Everyone’s gearing for graduation and the summer. With some people I run into it’s like they’ve completely forgotten what happened all of two weeks ago. That worries me a little, but I’d hate to think that was actually the case. Hopefully they’re just focusing on the positive and staying preoccupied with something good. These next few weeks are going to be so busy! Really, I’m always busy but there’s so much just on the school front. We’ve got everything on campus wrapping up for the year, the end of classes, finals. Of course we have to have celebrations for the sisters who are graduating, and then I start my internship. I’m actually really excited and can’t wait! I think social work is an excellent field to focus on considering my major and the whole contributing to the welfare of the community point as well, so it’s a good blend. My adviser thought the internship would be a good idea to see if it’s going to be a good fit for me, but I already know. It’s gonna be great!

Sundays like this always make me feel so- at peace with everything, and celebrating such an important holiday always leaves me with a renewed sense of hope for the world and reminds me that there are so many ways in which we’re all blessed. So Denver, I hope this Easter finds you all well and in the company of family, friends, or both. Days like this can be gone before you know it, so don’t let them pass you by.

This is terrible. Times like these are when people should be coming together, not focusing on the things could serve to drive them further apart.

The official announcement hasn’t been made yet, but I’m sure my dad wouldn’t mind me spreading the news. Starting at noon on Wednesday going until the regular services at 7, New Birth will be hosting a prayer vigil for the benefit of Denver and all of its citizens. The sanctuary will be open so people are free to stop by at whatever time is convenient for them. Both clergy members and counselors will be on hand the entire time in case anyone has the need to seek out someone to talk to. Any and all are both welcome and invited, regardless of religion, race, species, or anything else you would want to list. I really hope we have a good turn out. It would make me feel a lot better about the general state of things in this city.

I’m really hoping Campus Ministries at Denver U will be organizing something like this soon as well.

I just can't understand why the girls are so insistent on picking a theme for spring formal now. It isn't until spring! And there are so many things we still have to take care of for this semester. Like making sure everyone does and properly documents their philanthropy hours so we're in good standing with the campus, or making sure we have a clean routine for the winter step exhibition, or making sure our recruitment prospects are up to DPD standards. Their priorities simply do not make sense to me.

Just a few reminders and fyi for everyone: On October 31st, New Birth United Church will be hosting a night of safe, family fun. As always, our annual Family Fun Festival will have carnival rides, games, puppets, hayrides, prizes, clowns, trains, inflatables and more! The festival will be set up in the parking area for the Joy Recreation Complex and the Grace Family Life center. Admission is free and kids are encouraged to dress up as their favorite animal or Bible character, or just wear play clothes. No scary costumes please.

Through the entire month of October, the University of Denver's Black Student Association is sponsoring a canned goods drive to benefit the local shelters. Receptacles are set up at every major building around campus and donations are picked up daily.

And last but definitely not least- throughout October, the Denver U chapter of Delta Phi Delta is selling pink ribbons, pins, and car magnets, with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen fund. Ribbons are one dollar, pins are three, and car magnets are five. Please see any Delta Phi Delta sister if you would like to purchase any of these.

On a completely unrelated note, I love the fall. There's something so nice and pretty and peaceful about it as the year starts to wind down and ushers in the months that are so family and faith oriented. What can be better than that? It all just gives that comforting feeling like wrapping up in a nice cozy blanket on a cold day.

I can say I hope it will be worth what I give up if I could stand up mean for all the things that I believe )
